28 Jul CLT visit to meet Redditch Co-operative Homes
We are interested in housing co-operatives and had heard about Redditch Co-operative Homes (RCH)who are part of Accord Housing Association. We don’t have any housing co-operatives here in the Wyre Forest so arranged to visit Redditch to learn more about the co-operatives and how they work. RCH manage almost 300 properties in 5 co-operatives in and around Redditch.
We met with Karl Taylor who introduced us to the co-operative model and took the time to show us around several developments that range from larger family homes to bungalows and smaller apartments catering for a range of local people. The building and design of some of the homes were modern and sustainable in the longer term including timber framed and eco-homes. We like the co-op model as it’s community-led and the tenants all have a say in how things are run as they are all members.
